A large archive is being accumulated documenting Canada’s motorsport history, featuring racing programs, articles, photographs, and videos. Contact: archives@cmhf.ca

A collection of important race cars, motorcycles and a record-setting Grand Prix boat.

  • Motorsports vehicles, trophies, photographs, and memorabilia are on display.
  • The Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame now has 150 inducted honourable members, who have been recognized for their accomplishments and contributions to Canadian motorsports. These men, women, and companies have earned the privilege to be a part of the Hall. Categories for induction include: Competitors, Motorsport Builders, Team Members and Significant Contributors. An International category was recently added.

Girl Guides of Canada National Archives

Holds textual records, publications, program materials, and photographs from 1912 to present day.

Artifacts in the collection include uniforms and insignia related to Girl Guides in Canada.

Hockey Hall of Fame

D.K. (Doc) Seaman Hockey Resource Centre, named in honour of one of the founding owners of the Calgary Flames, is a 18,000 square foot facility and now the new home of the Hockey Hall of Fame’s vast artefact and archival collections. It is the most comprehensive archive and research facility in the world dedicated to collecting and preserving resource materials related to the history of hockey:

  • Approximately 4,000 hockey sticks donated by players and teams of all levels
  • Near complete hockey magazine runs of The Hockey News, Hockey Pictorial, Hockey Digest, Sports Illustrated, Hockey Illustrated, Hockey Today, Hockey World, Goal Magazine, Beckett Hockey Monthly, NHL This Week, Les Canadiens, Inline Magazine, The Amateur Hockey Journal, American Hockey Magazine, Stanley Cup, The Stratford Files, etc…
  • Hockey publications on nearly every aspect of the game including teams, league and tournament histories, player biographies, coaching, international hockey, women’s hockey, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the origin of the game, arenas, trades, trivia, etc.
  • Various programs from professional, amateur, women’s, and international hockey league games and tournaments.
  • Biographical photo and press clipping files on teams, leagues, trophies, and individual players.
  • Near complete runs of media and statistical guides from domestic and international teams, leagues, drafts, and tournaments.
  • Microfiche collection of The Hockey News from 1947 through to 1987.
  • Various hockey videos featuring game action, coaching, scouting material, etc…
  • Binders of collectibles including hockey cards, schedules, tickets, and postcards.
  • Donated personal collections containing historic photos, clippings and statistics.
  • Photographer Photo Collections including the Turofsky brothers, Derik Murray, Paul Bereswill, Jack and Peter Mecca, Brain and Steve Babineau, Frank Prazak, Lewis Portnoy, James Kelly, Joe DiMaggio and Joanne Kalish, Ralph Bacon, Miles Nadal, Doug MacLellan, Matthew Manor, and Dave Sandford.
  • Company Photo Collections from O-Pee-Chee and Graphic Artists.
  • Newspaper Photo Collections from the Ottawa Citizen and Oshawa Times.
  • Images from international tournaments such as the ’72 Summit Series, Canada Cup, World Cup, Winter Olympic Games, Men’s, Women’s and Junior World Championships, Spengler Cup, and many more.
  • Various catalogued images of amateur to the professional leagues, players, coaches, trophies, and arenas.

  • A to-scale replica of the renowned space within the Montreal Forum which was home to 23 Stanley Cup champions between 1924 and its closing in 1996. Player stalls commemorating some of the greatest Montreal Canadiens, including Guy Lafleur, Jacques Plante, Jean Beliveau, Ken Dryden and Howie Morenz, encircle the area.
  • A movie, The Stanley Cup Odyssey, presenting a history of the NHL in Canada.
  • Interactive hockey games.

Virtual Museum of Canada

Online Exhibitions

Virtual exhibits and interactive learning resources on numerous subjects, created by Canadian museums and galleries. Local history exhibits that capture Canadian community memories, drawn from the collections of small museums and local memories and treasures are also available.  Organized by museum, name or subject, the themes of Aboriginal Art, Culture and Tradition, Arts in Canada, Canada at War, Canadian Musical Traditions, Canadian Women, Science and Medicine and Vancouver 2010 make up the bulk of the collection.

Image Gallery

Showcases thousands of artefacts, photos, paintings and objects from Canadian museums. Amongst others, it contains the works of the Group of Seven, Marc-Aurèle Fortin, Emily Carr, and many other artists. 

Canadian National Exhibition Archives

Records and artefacts relating to the CNE Association, the Board of Governors of Exhibition Place, The Warriors’ Day Parade Council, the Canadian International Air Show and Exhibition Place grounds, in the form of textual records, photographs, film, audio recordings, and printed materials.

Private papers and artefacts that relate specifically to the history of Exhibition Place and previous events held on the grounds.

Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum

Photographic exhibits, records of tournament results as well as club histories are available for viewing.

Tours

Variety of tour centered educational programs for school groups, group events, service clubs, and community organizations.

A self-guided tour of the museum is geared to a variety of grades and curricula. Students are provided with a scorecard to work their way around the Hall of Fame “discovering” the answers to a variety of math, science, language, and social science questions.

Hands-on activities include putting with two hundred year old style equipment, equipment assembly, and golf course design.

Black Creek Pioneer Village

Black Creek Pioneer Village’s collection of 50,000 artefacts represents the development of the Toronto region in the 19th century. Of special note are the Percy Band Toy Collection with over 2,000 pieces and the Catherine Thuro Collection of over 150 working kerosene lamps. Other items include domestic artefacts, books, fine art, furniture, machinery, textiles, and tools.

Architecture

Black Creek Pioneer Village features a collection of 40 heritage homes, trade shops, community, and farm buildings from across south central Ontario. Each of the Village’s original buildings has been restored and furnished to recapture its original ambiance and demonstrates how settlers used it. Examples consist of a print shop, grain barn, smoke house and a tinsmith shop.

At Black Creek Pioneer Village visitors enjoy exhibits focusing on the people and stories of Toronto Region, including the award-winning Breaking the Silence: Stories of the British Home Children, 1869-1948.

Public Programs

Public programs are offered daily and range from tours of the recreated 19th century brewery to short performances by Black Creek’s History Actors, from hands-on Discovery Stations to Farmyard Friends where visitors can get up close with heritage breed animals.

SPecial events

A seasonal roster of special events include Pioneer Harvest Festival, which has been celebrated annually for over 50 years, Light Up the Night, Ghost Walks, and Christmas by Lamplight.

Educational Programming

Interactive curriculum-linked programs are provided for students ranging from pre-school to post-secondary.

Soccer Hall of Fame and Museum

Public Programming

Exhibitions:

  • The Museum  operates under the auspices of, and is managed by, a Board of Governors appointed by the Ontario Soccer Association.
  • It offers a unique collection of over 5000 artifacts that relate to people, teams and competitions from across Canada throughout the last century.
  • Some of these artifacts include soccer trophies and championship cups, soccer balls, 1904 Olympic gold medal, photographs, jerseys, historical information about past soccer players.

Lambton House

During special events such as Doors Open Toronto and Heritage Walks, historical talks are given at Lambton House recalling its significance and history.

Other

On the first Friday of every month, members from the public can gather and use Lambton House as a pub.

Royal Canadian Yacht Club Archives

The collection includes archival material relating to yachts and pleasure sailing on Lake Ontario and many original documents relating to the social history of Toronto, including

  • Documents on the history of the RCYC itself, the Canada’s Cup Challenges, membership registers, yearbooks, minute books, and annual reports.
  • Papers donated by prominent Toronto yachtsmen, such as Emelius Jarvis and Paul J. Phelan.
  • Drawings by yacht designers such as Herrick Duggan and George Cuthbertson.
  • Photographs of famous Toronto yachts.
  • News clippings, personal diaries, and yacht logs.
  • Lloyd’s Register of Yachts
  • Yearbooks of national and international yachting associations and back issues of American, British, and Canadian yachting magazines
